Your bedroom should be a sanctuary but it can suffer from a lack of attention. Here are our top tips for bedroom storage to make your sleep space clutter free and effortlessly organised.

  • File folding was popularised by Marie Kondo and it really does make a big difference to getting dressed in the morning.

Folding t-shirts, sweatshirts, underwear and in fact anything else which can be folded, into rectangles then arranging them in your drawers like files allows you to see everything at a glance and choose something much faster compared with stacking.

  • Chose a beside table with drawers and keep the things you reach for the most - your current book, glasses, phone charger - in the top drawer.

For smaller items, like make up, try a cutlery drawer insert or glass jars to keep everything together and categorised.

Hallway

This part of your home is one of the most frequently used but it's often overlooked. It’s the best place to keep coats, shoes and bags but they can make it feel cluttered, especially when it is quite a compact space.

  • First edit your coats and jackets and store anything seasonal in a bedroom wardrobe or in the loft. Donate anything which is no longer worn. then allocate a peg for each member of your family for the rest.

The 2F coat rack is perfect for this with seven hooks, plus a practical shelf for items you want to grab on the way out.

  • Categorise your shoes - which do you wear most, which aren’t everyday styles and can be stowed away somewhere else? Divide shoes into types like flats, heels, sandals and trainers then store them in those categories so you always know where to reach for a particular pair.

A shoe bench is the ideal multitasking piece of furniture, creating seating in addition to storage. We particularly like the Opal shoe cabinet with spacious compartments tucked away behind a hinged door and cushioned seats.

  • Prefer to keep everything out of sight? Why not try a slimline wardrobe for the hallway. The tall silhouette will make the most of the vertical space and a mirrored door hides clutter and reflects light.

We love the Single Duo Wardrobe which has shelves as well as hanging space.

  • Traditionally used in dining rooms, sideboards have become increasingly popular for living spaces as an alternative to an open bookshelf.

The profile gives you extra surface space at the perfect height for a lamp or items you want to display on top whilst allowing you to neatly store things inside. Try storage boxes in each compartment so you can easily pull one out and find what you're looking for.

Games or puzzles in boxes which take up a lot of space? Try putting the pieces in zip up plastic wallets and cutting out the front of the box to show what's inside.

We love the Kama 2K for its elegant design touches - cylindrical legs creating lightness and patterned doors as well as spacious storage compartments.
